Speedy Gonzales....mmm, maybe not.

After having a bit of a break - think Cornish cream teas on tap, with lots of laughs and food and drink and other things, but no running (OMG did I just say that!), I thought I should get out there and have a go after a 10 day break. Having made a public declaration of intent to run today - see jancanrun.com there was no excuse to be made.

Onto Round 2 of the Couch 25K Graduate 'Speed' podcast, to do some interval training. Well it's no easier second time around - does anyone else have my innate disability to count and keep to a rhythm? I couldn't work out my steps unless Laura was actually telling me - every time I took over from her and counted in my head, I was out on timing.

If I'm truthful I think my walking was about the same pace as my 'comfortable' running and my 'sprints' well let's just say I'd categorise 4 out of the 6 as sprinting.

Still nothing ventured, nothing gained - after having done one session of 'Speed' I finally made the sub 30 minutes 5km a couple of weeks back, so who knows what benefits today's intervals may bring. I think my Speedy Gonzales name change may have to wait a little while though.

But Laura if you're reading this, please, please, please can you do something about the dreadful music on that podcast?

😂😂😂

If you can get Laura to do something about the music I will buy you a lifetime's supply of Portuguese Custard Tarts.

Glad to hear you tried Speed again. I was supposed to be running the last few days but the snow here is still very deep on the ground and has compacted to form a 5 inch layer of ice (I know because I had to pick through it with a shovel this morning to get my car off the front drive. I couldn't run but probably expended as much energy shovelling snow and ice. I was going to go tot he gym, but once I'd finished shovelling I discovered that my car battery was totally flat and had to wait for the AA to come and Do Home Start (I'm totally inept with cars, and the way I see it, I might as well get my money's worth from the AA subscription 😂)

If we have a bit of a thaw I may try Speed tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Poor you, we got off lightly I think. If you try Speed I wish you all the luck - I think my version 2 run was worse than version 1, but it was a run...

Good luck and happy running (if you can do it)

Ha ha...fab post Hidden ...I haven’t tried the interval training but I have done one of Laura’s podcasts, does she count on every podcast she does??? I find that running to the 1, 2, 3, 4 makes my running feel exagrated and slower than my comfortable pace.....the music? Well....she needs to get you on that job xx

in reply to Mummycav

Sorry mummycav, been a bit hectic, on my way back to Italy tomorrow. I have only ever tried the Speed one, maybe I need to get brave and try the others...

And the music - I agree I need to tell her this Audiofuel nonsense it is not helpful, where are the singalong or 'gasp along' lyrics?
