Illness so soon after graduation

So proud to graduate, determined to keep running regularly, then struck down by sinusitis and a chest infection, which is still lingering. By the time I get out again next weekend I won't have run for three weeks. Any suggestions about how I should start or what I should do? Straight to W9R3 which is what I was doing regularly since graduation? Or aim for something simpler? Thanks

Make sure you are fully well :) then a walk to try out the legs... and then an Irishprincess jogette... See how you feel and then move onto some gentle runs to build back up to 30 minute consolidation. Short and slow and steady :)

Feel better soon x

Don't run with a chest infection, even only the tail-end of one (and I'm normally a 'run it off' person)!

Once it's really gone, go out gently and see how you get on: you might be surprised by how ok it feels (in which case, great!), or you might need to do a few run/walks or shorter runs to ease back in (in which case, no worries either: you'll be back to normal within a week or two)

Thanks both. Been given 7 days of antibiotics today, so will give it at least another week before I venture out, then take it slowly as you both suggested.

Hi How have you got on getting back into it.

I had a break... just being idle! After several weeks I went back down to week 7 (I think... any way one of the runs with walking rests). When I got to the rests i felt fine so I kept on with my running.... slow jogging... or whatever you'd call the snails pace I run at.

Well done for graduating... its hard to explain to non C25Kers what an achievement it is. But those of us who have done it know... WELL DONE U!!!
