No running since last Wednesday and it's not looking like a restart anytime soon. The picture shows the track I have to run down to get to my various circuits: it is slippier than a bag of politicians...and almost as dangerous. The through road has been ploughed but still unsafe to run on.
It is beautiful though and all this is a small price to pay for living here.
So, I will just have to wait it out. We are promised minus 8 degrees again tonight so it won't be disappearing in a hurry. The roads are at least open now so tomorrow I might drive to the little gym in our nearest town and have a flap about on the treadmill thingummy. Only ever been on one during gait analysis and that almost ended with me on the deck.
Never thought I would ever hear myself moaning because I couldn't go running.

I feel the same. I really wanted to run today, but Mr Razouski said I would be tempting fate to run in the snow as I would either get wet icy feet and calves, or if I stayed on the paths would end up slip sliding and get an injury. I did think about going down to the gym and running on the treadmill, but I find that so boring so decided to stay home and do lots of cooking: pecan pie prepared and in the freezer, key lime pie setting and then ready to freeze, leek and potato soup (mostly eaten), and now to make some turkey mince and cranberry parcels for appetisers.
It looks gorgeous, though I know how galling it can be not to get out and run. Getting out with your dogs and drying them off after is probably a workout in itself. 👍
Wise decision not to run in that though. We don't have snow so I had no excuse and went out this morning. It was minus six but the pay off was a sparkly frosty path that looked like I was running on diamonds.
I love that image: diamonds on the soles of your shoes...very 'Simonesque'.
Same here. We cant even have post delivered because the sorting office, at the bottom of the hill is snowed in. Pavements are worse today as they have turned to greasy slush, and it’s going to freeze tonight. My partner will have to catch the bus to work tomorrow as his car is snowed in, in the car park. Hopefully we will have higher temperatures and rain on Wednesday.
Love the pooches. They look well up for the weather. My collie/arctic cross loves it but my lurcher would rather stay at home.
It looks like you're better off trying cross-country skiing in the coming days or snowshoes But how wonderful it looks!!! Careful on the treadmill if you're trying...
LOVE the white bearded hounds! 🎅🏻It does look awfully pretty where you are, but good call not to run in that. I used to love winter-time, but am now longing for spring and easier running conditions...
No run for me today as we had bitter winds and torrential sleet/rain. I took the dog out with our wet weather gear on and both got home totally soaked after 30 minutes. It is due to freeze tonight too. At this rate I may have to join a gym.
