Well there are two things about that title.
1) What happened to Week 5
2) Easy ... easy you say!!!
So to explain ... a week ago I had the good fortune to require some dental work that ended up with me losing weight ... if you get my drift. After a little research I discovered that it is best not to run for x days after an extraction - where x is a number that you think of ranging from 1 to infinity!! The guidance is a little vague. So Week 5 did not happen. I convinced myself that I would instead use the same time to go out and do some walks.
All to easy ... is exactly what it takes to do nothing! And that is precisely what happened to my Week 5! Nothing ... no runs, no walks just copious amounts of gargling and the odd paracetamol for my long lost molar!
So today I thought to myself - if I don't get back out there, it is not going to happen ... looking at the weekend weather it definitely looked like today was going to be the best shot at a half decent weather window.
So off I went, mindful that I had been relaxing for a week I decided to take it easy and did 5 minute runs interspersed with 1 minute walks to get me back into the swing of things. I can actually say that today I enjoyed my run. No pressure to keep running. No aches through pushing too hard. It was ... enjoyable! Which is a surprise after the confessions of my last post.
So a word to the wise ... remember that this running game is a journey, you have to be out there to take part ... don't give up half way and don't take the easy option. I guess the other thing is, yes you have to push yourself to improve but don't beat yourself up and make it a chore.
Finally as always believe in yourselves and keep running.
