Took myself out yesterday for a 5k run – I was determined to see if I could do it, with the aim of running the whole of the next Parkrun that I do. 5 mins into the run, I tripped (going through a gate which closed back on me a bit too quickly, and just caught my foot). So I completely measured my length, but thankfully my foot/knee/hip etc were fine. I landed on my front, straight onto my hands. The only thing that hurt was my left hand which was stinging a bit. So I picks myself up, and completed my 5k run! 🤗
However, when I got back to the car, it was really painful to change gear/release handbrake etc. Washing my hair in the shower proved tricky, but the moment of truth came at lunchtime when I couldn’t lift a fork to my mouth!!
So at that point I took myself to our local minor injuries dept, to find that I have fractured the radial head in my elbow! Apparently the ‘shock wave’ went through my hands, up my arm until it reached the elbow. Now in a sling, very painful, with no driving allowed, and no running for a few weeks! ☹️
As I said to the nurse – it didn’t hurt at the time; just a slight graze to the hand. And she was massively impressed that I just carried on with my run, though I think she thought me slightly bonkers!

Oh no??? Poor you...here’s a virtual hug to keep you going....amazing that you carried on despite the pain..what a machine?!!! Rest up now...you’ll be out & about again before you know it x
Oh flip! Oh well enforced rest for you for a bit 😠😏🤨☹️😤
These things happen but you'll be back.
My little niece broke her arm at the elbow and lots of trouble ensued and it had to be pinned etc. She ended up with an arm of steel and was the best arm wrestler at school and could take on all-comers 😁 💪
Oh no, that’s awful. Total respect for carrying on & hope you’re soon mended.
Ouch. I used to think any broken bone would really hurt immediately. But then a few years back I broke my elbow. Didn't believe it was broken because it didn't hurt at the time. Eventually had it xrayed and had to have it screwed back together. Hope yours gets better soon - all the things you can't do while it mends are annoying. Mine is fine now. I was amazed how the body can heal and thankful for the NHS.
Absolutely! Totally agree on every point. It’s massively frustrating not being able to drive, but potentially worse is the fact that I’m a pianist/church organist. Not coming up to a busy time..... no, not at all!!
