Can’t believe I’ve made it week 5 but I’m finding the weather terrible. I live in the Midlands so it’s not to north but still the wind chill gets me ... and the council installed the energy efficient lights so it’s quite dark.
What do others do for warmth? Does anyone wear a light even for running on the streets?

I’ll second that! The compression running tops from Aldi are toasty. They were on sale as specials a few weeks ago but my local store still has some left.
I have been wearing mine for warmth even when I am not running.
The good news is the weather is set to get a bit warmer!
I'd recommend a visit to Decathlon, since it really is a sweet shop for sports addicts.
However, if running in low light, your safety remains paramount. As such, investment in brightly coloured/reflective attire and running lights are worthy purchases.
My neon blue running lights, which I wrap around each ankle, help keep me safe and wholly visible to motorists (or it could be my white cold-weather compression leggings, worn beneath my shorts).
Ultimately, when running in winter, you need to ensure that you remain visible.
Thanks yeh went to Decathlon and managed to get a bright top - saw headlights but didn’t get one this time 👍🏻
Layers. Tonight (i live in the Cotswolds, so pretty chilly and breezy) I wore thermal long sleevd top under warm workout hoody, windproof but thin running jacket, running leggings, running gloves, beanie. But you soon warm up with the longer runs in week 5. I have reflective strips on my jacket and a flashing yellow light on the back, and my leggings could be seen from space.
I have winter running leggings (from eBay), a windproof light jacket (branded cycling jacket originally) and also wear gloves and a hat. It’s such a dilemma as I can feel so cold starting out but know I could be too hot once I get going if I wear too much (am in week 7 now). I think the thermal leggings and windproof jacket make a huge difference to my body heat, and the hat and gloves are adding to that as the windchill increases. Good luck!
I also wonder if it really cold weather putting those little hand warmer gel things in your gloves might help you before you’ve warmed up. They’re light and small to carry. Just a thought.
Yes, I do as there are places where you can’t see at ground level even with street lights. I wear head torch, flashing shoe things which I wear on my arms 😃 after I read that you’re more visible with flashing lights worn higher on the body rather than at your feet. Reflective running gear is best as you need to be highly visible
I got fleece lined joggers and sweatshirt from Aldi: they were cheap and it’s like wearing a teddy bear! In fact I’m getting rather fond of these joggers at other times too - very snuggly!
Wow thanks everyone. I’ve not even been putting a hat on and just thought body heat would warm me up 😂😂 I’m still new to all this - have lots of tips now. Have bought a bright top, will start wearing a hat and think I might some fleece joggers and a reflective jacket. 👍🏻
