Christmas (sorry) list

Hello,

My very sweet nan is repeatedly requesting a list of things she can buy me for christmas. I keep saying there is nothing I need and she should make a donation to charity instead, but we all know what nans are like.

Can anyone think of any inexpensive running paraphernalia that she'll be able to find on the high street that I can point her to?

I could do with some new trainers if she is feeling generous!?! :-)

How about things like Head torch, buff, socks, tights, jacket, pizza vouchers to reward yourself with after a run? All solid ideas!

Hahaha she is very generous, but too generous for her own good. Thanks, I'm a treadmill runner at the moment and intend to be that way until Spring but I guess there's no harm in prepping now for the great emergence.

Play it safe then, just ask for the pizza vouchers! :-)

How about a foam roller, very useful x

I did a google and am none the wiser. What is one of theses and what are they used for?

They are used to roll out muscles following a run, particularly when faced with minor aches, I can’t add photos on here but you can get them in Argos, sport shops or amazon x

Thanks, I haven't really suffered with any DOMs yet, but I expect they come in handy for longer runs. Useful to know =)

Treadmill things: a pretty hand towel, a nice water bottle, sweat bands, cute socks...

Bluetooth in-ear headphones: on Amazon, search for brand MPOW. Shouldn't need to spend more than £15.

I'm a big believer in More Mile socks, particularly ones that are not black or white (a funky colour makes them easier to find/pair straight from the airing cupboard).

Something a bit old-school. A Moleskine notebook for recording your running (and ideas, to-do lists, reminders).

Nothing to do with running, but consider a subscription to The Spicery. thespicery.com. Every month for 3 months you'll get a delivery of all the spices that you need for a fantastic 3-5 dish meal, detailed instructions and the eternal love from all your nearest and dearest friends/family whom you feed.

Also subscription-based: Runners World magazine.

One of my most liked pressies last year....subscription to Womens World..... a pressy every month. You can get a three month subscription if its too expensive.

I’d go with Bluetooth headphones, maybe some running clothes - I went into Matalan the other day and they have HEAPS of stuff! Running socks!

Thin reflective running gloves. Very cheap.

Oh, and I'm a Nana too and it's our job to spoil you. Luckily my 13 year old granddaughter is only too happy to indulge me 😊

Thank you! Really needs to be highstreet though as my nan has no internet (or understanding of it) and likes to go out and shop. Is lovely though

I did wonder.... if shes anything like my nan ( who has passed away now) she loved knitting. Could she knit you a hat or warm socks to wear when you get in from a delicious frosty run? or hot chocolate??

in reply toju-ju-

aaaggghhh...why did you have to post that link. I can/t control my internet shopping as it is!!!

If you run inside.. sweat band or a bag to hold shower stuff etc for after your run ?

Running socks. They even have them in M and S, which all nanna's love. Alternatively, some lovely shower products, for coming in after the winter runs.
