Moving into WK5 and read a post about the toxic 10 mins! Is this something to fear? I thought I was looking forward to it but not quite so sure now.

Toxic 10 mins
It’s nothing to worry about you have been building up to this. Just take it slow and steady 👍
Each of us are different, no two people are alike. Just keep enjoying it and aiming towards the goal ! Slow and steady wins the race so to speak !! Enjoy !!
Nothing to fear... the toxic ten is a well known phenomenon for most runners... the 'when we get going'... first bit of any run. It has had lots of posts about it.. scientific reasoning all about aerobic and anaerobic whatever:)...my husband explained it all to me at GREAT length!!
You will be fine... just one slow and steady step after another
PS
I sometimes have toxic 20 minutes... but sometimes...no toxic bits at all
No....don't worry about this Freuchie. Its a good thing to know, but isn't really relevant to you until you get to Week 7 onwards.
The program works by building your stamina in bite size increments and every run is helping you to improve and get stronger. Once you have completed a 'week' you are ready for the next.
Start your runs nice and slow and steady, and complete each run section, recovering a bit during the walk sections. The program is designed to be challenging but totally doable, and if you can tackle each run positively it will help a lot. This applies to Week 5 too. A nice steady start..
You know how great you feel after completing a run successfully and should believe in yourself and trust the program.
The toxic ten is a heavy legged, puffed out feeling you can get if you start running too quickly before your body has taken on the oxygen it needs for the exertion of running. If it happens you can just carry on and push through it , and then find you are relaxed as you are breathing aerobically and you feel fine and running is easier. The way to avoid this troubling you too much is not to start running too quickly, let your body get ready by taking on the oxygen you need.
I really wouldn't think about it too much, until you are running for 25 mins non-stop in a few weeks, *Yes you will be able to* and even then its not really a big problem.
Go you onwards and upwards. Good luck😊x
It sounds worse than what it is, honest! It’s just the time that your body takes to catch up with what your brain is telling it to do-we all experience it, don’t worry 😊
