Just returned from Consolidation Run 2, OK folks, own up, who is guilty of putting those lead weights in my running shoes? ..lol

Seriously, I cant shake off the toxic 10, and yet at 15 mins i'm all settled in and fine. Anyone any tips for avoiding those toxic 10 fairies?

I've only just realised they were not there on my run yesterday. First time ever I have not had to shake them off.

I was going on average .3k faster so perhaps that's the answer 😂

Good luck with them. 💪

After doing the last app run again with all the voices to consolidate I ditched it. I am now using map my whatever and have set it on 5 min delay, for warm up, with voice coach every 5 mins giving stats-get me!

Found it more motivating and managed full 5k in extra time.

The "Toxic Ten " is the result of your body not being warmed up enough to fully anticipate the demands on it. If you do a longer, progressively more demanding warm up then you will diminish the effects.

An elite athlete, about to compete, is not going to be wanting their body to not respond to the demands, so will obviously do more than just warm up their leg muscles and gently raise heart rate.

Unless you are chasing a pb, then just lower pace and expectations for the first few minutes.

Thanks, that does make sense, as I have noticed when I run later in the day, when I have already been active, that its not so much of a problem.

I do recommend ditching the app. Obviously it's been enormous help thus far, but once you have graduated it can become a psychological crutch and your mindset gets stuck in those beginner runs. Run free and you may find that helps!
