Week 8 run 1 done....first 28 minute run and first time i have ever ran in the snow!

Out of the 18 runs I have tracked it is my slowest pace, these longer runs have become slower but guess thats to be expected now im doing it in the pitch black or daylight with inches of snow.

I found running in the snow more difficult than i thought, it was deep and soft and sapped quite a lot of energy with each step, felt similar to running on dry sand! It was easier in sections where deer and sheep had made a track of thier own.

Proud of myself, if I can motivate myself to run in the wind, rain, dark and now snow I think I've come further than any other exercise plan I've tried in the past!

Great job on the snowy run. It adds a whole new challenge to the run and your legs. Stretch your hips out well, you may feel some sore spots you haven't noticed before because you're activating smaller stabilizer muscles and working your legs differently. Don't worry about pace, it will definitely be slower slogging through deep snow. Nothing beats a peaceful, slow snowy run though ❄️💕.

Thanks for the tip! Will likely be running in snow for quite a while now so will take your advise about the hips.

Wow, well done you - that winter wonderland snow scene looks fabulous ... I'm jealous! You deserve to feel pleased with yourself. (I'm doing that run tomorrow, but we don't have anything like such scenic weather in Kent at the moment.)

It is wonderful. I feel very lucky to live here! Good luck with your Run, I didnt find it much different from the 25 mins one in terms of time.

Thanks; I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s run. I should have done wk8r1 today, but been stuck in a board meeting most of today. So you’re gorgeous scenic run made me very envious. Enjoy the rest of wk8

I don't really do stretches...but know i should. Tend to just get changed and head out the door as soon as im in from work. What is rolling?

Well some folk don't stretch before a run, if you do, and I do, then dynamic stretches... I had a calf issue and I am a bit belt and braces now :)... but after a run, always :)

Rolling.. using a massage stick or a foam roller :) Exquisite torture for loosening the knots and releasing the lactic acid around those muscles:) Lovely when you stop!

Running in snow or on a sandy, even dry sand beach puts a massive amount of strain on your calf muscles:)

Thanks, I'll take a look into that rolling thing! Snow could be here for a few months now.
