What are they? Lots of folks writing about them, esp around Armistice Day. Please explain!

Virtual 5K?
The 5k is real of course! You sign up to do a race, pay a fee, run your run and they give you a medal A proportion of the money goes to the charity. Good way to give your running a purpose and of course, every one loves bling
Have a look at ukvirtualrace.com
Hidden has said it all.
For me, it means I can run in a race..virtually.... with no one else around me great for me, great for the chosen charity... I use this site as do a few of us
The Sunday after Armistice Day was great, because so many of us were running a Remembrance Day run Even Mr OF did it.. (walking..on our cross-trainer) !!!
Check my post out..it may give you a giggle
HOW IT WORKS...
A virtual race is a race that can be ran at any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race. You can run your race at your pace anywhere in the world.
Virtual races are a great way to stay fit and active all year round, run for a good cause and get awesome medals for your participation!
This is so cool, thank you for posting the link! My daughter has already insisted I sign up for the unicorn run as she has her eye on the medal, and my son told me that if I earn lots of medals, he'll put them in my sarcophagus to accompany me to the underworld... 😂
