The delayed W4R1 ticked off.

My life-long devotion to finding new and amusing ways to hurt myself has always been a deep well of belly laughs for my friends and family: 2017 has (up until last Friday) delivered 2 serious rotator cuff tears, broken nose, broken collar bone and a torn hamstring. Not satisfied by that I managed to drop a cast iron gate on my toe last Friday...or rather 51+ kg of big, black dog managed to knock it out of my hands...bless him. Nothing broken this time -surprisingly-but the black and blue beauty of what used to be a normal big toe is worthy of Jackson Pollock at his peak. So, a few extra rest days before W4 were required to give 'Technicolour Toe' chance to recover.

Technicolor Toe is still painful so it was with some trepidation that I hobbled out of THAT gate and shuffled off down Poverty Bank. Jethro ( the dog) was looking out of the window with an expression of guilt, or sheer, unadulterated pleasure...I'm not sure which.

It was actually fine: ibrufopen gel and the new Brooks running shoes - I have now stopped crying about the price-really did their job and Technicolour Toe was well behaved.

Certainly a step up from the 3 minutes max sessions but breathing absolutely fine again. It seems easy to transfer my swimming-derived, not too bad for an old fart, lungpower to running; it is my legs that need to catch up, having lazed around, being dragged through the water by my shoulders for years. Did a couple of extra, shortish sessions before the warm down.

Technicolour Toe was getting tetchy again by the time I got back so I mollified him with ice. Feeling pretty good otherwise.

Looking forward to even more progress by my 60th Birthday in a couple of weeks time.

Would you say this dog looks guilty? Or is he just stifling a laugh? Mmmm.

Nope, definitely not a guilty face..... more of a "shoot, that didn't work to keep you from venturing out onto that scary path without me. What else can I do?" 😆. Good job getting out there with the Technicolour tie- sounds pretty... pretty painful!!!
