No where near too old. Im a youngster here at 60, plenty of very experienced more mature runners on the forum.
You can do it!
Definitely not. Iβm 56, started running 7 weeks ago. I have never run a step in my life. Itβs not easy, but very worth it. Take it slow and steady. Xxx
70 year old here, and I'm not the only one!

Thank you everyone π
This 53 yr old graduated today much to everybodyβs amazement and I had never even run for a bus, so go for it and with all the support from this great forum you will be a runner soon x
![Bridget007 profile image](https://images.hu-production.be/avatars/5db126c6eca89b217895d5b2bae15eb0_small@2x_100x100.jpg)
And well done all of you, very inspiring ππ
No. I can think of a few 20 year olds in my office who might struggle but only because they don't have our Determination to Succeed.
Oops who is going to tell some of our 70 years plus runners? Not at all youβre a spring chicken....

Nope! I started 8 weeks ago at the age of 58, having never run before. You are just a young Spring chicken!! There are lots of us over- 50s on this forum discovering that our bodies are still amazing & adaptable.
I expected to be doing W1 for ever, but here I am with exceedingly surprised eyebrows in W9! π
Follow the program, always have your rest days and go slowly and gently - that way you'll be fine.
Let us know how you get on so we can cheer for you! Good luck π

Youβre a mere spring chicken and with this programme and the support and encouragement of all the lovely peeps on this forum, youβll be running around like one before you know it! Iβm pushing 61 and struggled to get past wks 1 and 2 because my ankles swelled up and my feet hurt but in hindsight this was just my body protesting as I hadnβt run since school (ahem, 40+ yrs ago!). Take it βslow and steadyβ and youβll surprise yourself at how your body adapts. Iβm on wk7 now and running 25 mins; something I would never have thought I could do a few short weeks ago. Believe in yourself and youβll do just great ππ»

You will do too trust the program itβs amazing π

Think about it this way:
For every 30 minute run that you take, you'll add 1 day to your life-expectancy.

We had an 83 year old graduate just a few weeks ago, so the answer to your question, from a 61 year old, is a resounding NO!!!

Hi you are just a spring chicken(-: I graduated last week. I found it hard going at times but since I am 70 first week in December that was to be expected. I still cannot run/jog 5K but can do the 30 mins easy now but at a snail jog. I think you will find there are a lot of members who started running at your age & beyond.
Do not take any notice of how fast these younger people are running and tearing through the course. Just take your time and you will soon be posing to to say you have graduated

No no no! Iβm 59 and have completed the couch to 5k and am doing park runs now. Go for it π
There are loads of people aged 80+ doing regular park runs so I am afraid that excuse is off the table. I graduated in July just before I turned 55. Go for it and enjoy.

Definitely not!! Iβm 53 and itβs the best thing Iβve done for myself in years! I couldnβt recommend it highly enough! π

Welcome aboard Bridget , good to have you here !
I can only echo everyone else and say definitely not . I was 53 when I started too , and had a 30 odd year smoking habit . I packed those in and took up running .
Ive had some great runs, not so great runs and nearly thrown myself into a skip once , but in all honesty , its one of the best decisions Ive ever made .
Plus , you've got all us on here , that's got to be worth a head start
Good Luck ! xxx
Hi Bridget, Iβm a newbie to this group and I realise a relative spring chicken at 54! Hopefully we can compare notes if you are just starting too?
Had 2 unsuccessful attempts at joining beginners clubs recently- even they were too fast for me!
Iβve got plantar fasciitis, but as long as I take it easy and at my own pace, itβs not making it any worse. Thing is, without the group, Iβm losing motivation, hoping this lovely group can help π
Yes we can compare! I only joined yesterday but everyone on here is so lovely and they have all done amazingly well. I broke my ankle in June falling off my bike and had a plate and 6 pins installed and I thought it might be a problem but I went for my second βrunβ today and itβs not hurting so all good so far ππ good luck π
