You can't avoid puddles on trails, so I don't see how you will keep your feet dry unless you are just running in wet grass. There is of course the draining problem...........? can't imagine anything worse than shoes full of water.
I just bought some saucony peregrine arctic trail shoes in a sale - best buy ever for me, light, very comfortable, and they have vibram & anti-slip soles for icy conditions. Great to run in. I’ve used them on wet/muddy trails but not in heavy rain as yet. I know you can buy running gaiters to wear with trail shoes in really wet conditions, but I’m not planning to do anything extreme. I’ll be happy if I just manage to keep running through the winter!
