Just wondering if anyone has completed this challenge in a wheelchair? I'm an active wheelchair user who plays basketball but after several health conditions and new medication causing weight gain around the stomach and hips, I need to try this to get fitter.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I've knocked around the forum a good few years now and I can't think of anyone - but it doesn't mean they don't exist. If people can race in wheelchairs, I can't see how building up through a structured programme could be a problem per se, especially for someone fit enough for wheelchair basketball. There's a key difference in that walking and running are different movements rather than, necessarily, different speeds.
Commiserations on the effect of medications, it's a pig and whilst I suspect that upping the activity may not be a magic wand, that feeling of taking back some control is *so* important. Would love to hear how you get on.
We had one fellow do the program on the stationary bike awhile back, so I'm sure you're fine in a wheelchair. Same principles apply the program has faster running intervals and slower walking intervals - I think this can be adapted to most activities - my OH was trying it on the stationary rowing machine. And of course, if you like the social aspect, races, Parkrun and events once you've graduated might get you excited the same way they excite me. Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes. I've had to make adjustments of my own to the program for my unique health conditions recently, but it's been great. And keep coming back to the forum, we're all in this together and it's a really great, supportive place.
I don't see why not. It will just be experimenting with what speed feels like walking and what running. And 30 minutes of sustained activity will probably be very different from the short sprints you must do for basketball.
Most park runs are accessible. I did one a few weeks ago with a visually impaired wheelchair user who needed a guide. She hadn't really been able to train much but we finished in 40 minutes.
Let us know how you get on and any tips for others who want to do the same.
