Hello! I need some motivation as I got to about 7 weeks of C25k and then had to stop with an incredibly bad back. That was last November and I haven't picked it up since, (well not in a serious way). I am fine, fit, and dandy now but just need a bit of impetus to get back into it. It's not the running; I love running. It's the continuity. I think I need to give myself a reward after each completed week... Any ideas would be welcome. 9 weeks would take me to the 11th of January.

Okay a couple of reward ideas coming up... I treat myself to a music download for every completed run I do and if I meet my weekly km target I get a bonus download.

Or and I think it was MrsT82 who came up with this one - a £1 for either every run or km completed was put into a 'kitty' for new running kit. I think we then thought MrT82 could provide matching financial support, not sure he was as keen on the idea though. And I'm really not sure he'd provide matching support for you, but MrsT can answer that one I'm sure!

I think most of us work on variations of completing a run or set number of kms to get a reward, that mounts up.

Hi Gudblud .....glad to hear your back is better, I have only ever had back pain once in my lire (& only for 4 days) & it was excruciatingly painful, so I sympathise with you there....mmmmm, I’m thinking of a reward, how about , at the end of each week you buy yourself something to do with running? That way, if you’re spending money on your new found hobby, you’re less likely to pack in...so week 1, some compression socks, week 2 a new reflective armband, week 3 a hat...and so on...the further in, the bigger the reward??

Hi Belindablue,

Many people find posting their runs on this forum makes them accountable, you get to share the highs and lows of your runs with others, and there will always be people doing the same week as you to compare notes with.

Actually working through the program, gives you a great feeling of accomplishment as you know, and buying yourself a running treat every now and then is a great idea...

So...waiting for your first I just did W...R... post..😊xx

Good luck...

Ha! Yes this is a good idea; the reward of writing what I have done and getting some feedback from others on here. I see you are a graduate... do you still run? when did you complete?

Yes, I still run Belinda. I graduated in Nov 2015. Having never run before, its now something that I really enjoy and am doing a 10k plan at the moment.

This forum is a great supportive community, all interested in running and offering encouragement and advice... it certainly keeps you motivated when you see other people all doing the same journey as you.😊x
