So I hit off Week 5 yesterday and being bored of my usual trail I decided to change it slightly! There was a downhill run in the first 5 relatively flat for the second then mostly uphill for the final run Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus my legs heart and lungs felt that!! But I made it!! I actually enjoyed it too!!!
I think I’ll alternate between routes now!

ive been going since march of this year and only truly tried real hills a few weeks ago and all i can say is my calves have never felt anything like it. im there again tomorrow and a big 10k on sunday with 2 mile uphill at the start
Walk the hills if they get too steep as you won’t lose time but you might save hurting yourself. It’s ankles that usually bear the brunt if the hill is acute.
In your race you will see loads walking the hills as it’s quicker. I found that out when I was running and the walkers were overtaking me. An experienced lady took my arm and told me to walk. She felt sorry for me. This was a race with a hill start. Drat em 😁
Long hills or slopes are best tackled in sections with rests taken to get your breath back before setting off again I chose a local hill and ran it regularly post grad til I’d nailed it 💪
Did a woodland hill night run last night with my cousin, headlamps, owl noises, i seen two deer!!! just their eyes at first as it was so dark!
totally right about some of the hills. i was running so slow that brisk walking was much quicker. overall we did 372m elevation in a 10k run. some of the sections where truly hell but i would do it again!
well i did the race and it was fantastic! didn't feel that i really needed to walk any of the hill but i did give it a go a few times but the incline wasn't so bad that i really need to do. it just seemed to go on forever. the downhill part was amazing, extremely surprised with my time as the incline average was pretty slow at around 6-7 minutes per km. but still finished in 51:32 after the super fast section we got running gloves as a mamemto, something different
