GPS App?

Now I’m getting to the longer runs I’d quite like to use an app to see how far I run each session and give me an idea on my average pace. What do you lovely people use?

I use Runkeeper and Pear sports apps.

I use Strava. It is good. I used to use it on my phone. Then when I bought a GPS running watch I connected it to Strava via Garmin Connect. I can look back at runs then on my phone.

MapMyRun is my choice of tracker

I use Mapmyrun too. Probably because it was free and the first one I tried. You can plot runs on it (on pc or tablet) and then I have it on my phone when I run. I also use it for walking and cycling.

So many good, free choices:

Runkeeper

Strava

Map My Run

Runtastic

Then there are the free 'Fitness Tracker' apps:

FitBit,

Garmin

Nike+

I have a Garmin running watch - ForeRunner 235 and that does my tracking/pace measurement. Main benefit of a running watch is that it is on my wrist, and I can see my speed/distance/time/pace/heart-rate/training effort etc whilst I am running.

I have strava, it’s really good seeing your friends runs, really motivating 😊

I started off with RunKeeper and then exported all my runs onto Strava. I quite liked RunKeeper but was annoyed that it started the GPS as soon as you opened the app using up battery unnecessarily if you just want to look at your stats. I switched to Strava importing all my runs. I got myself a GPS watch (not Garmin) just be warned that not all watches sync up with all sites. There is a small group of C25Kers on Strava.

Have a Garmin Vivosmart HR+. I love it for all the stats it produces and the ability to link up with people on the Garmin Connect app and join in challenges. Really like the GPS function - if I run somewhere new especially on holiday, having the satellite image of the route makes a nice keepsake.

I have a Garmin forerunner 10, it’s a couple of years old but does all I need.

If you’re worried about cost and whether you’ll use it etc have a look on eBay, there are often really good buys on there as the ‘fancy’ runners tend to get rid of decent watches when they upgrade to new gear.

I think I need to get onto Strava?
