Buoyed by an extra hour's sleep (who am I kidding, despite me explaining carefully, cat failed to under stand "the clocks go back tomorrow so breakfast will SEEM as if it is an hour later"), had a lovely W7R3 run this morning to round out the week.
I was running down by the river, the rain had just stopped and sun came out, and the only people out were dog walkers, other runners, anglers and swans. It was just beautiful.
Didn't really feel up for a sprint at the end of the 25 mins but my legs still had some go in them so kept running for another 5 mins before starting the long cooldown walk home. I checked strava just before heading home and it said 4.8km (So that includes 5 mins warmup walk and 30 mins run -- times don't matter but I'm happy with that!)
The main thing I noticed this week is how my feelings about distance have changed. At the start I thought 5k was a vague but quite long distance. Now am starting to think it really isn't that far at all.
Pros
I feel really confident now with the longer runs. I know what people mean when they talk about the toxic 10 but I think of it more like clockwork. It takes 5-12 mins to wind the clockwork legs up, but after that it feels as though they just keep going on their own until I say stop.
It really was a lovely run this morning! I also run down to the start of the local parkrun, got there just as Sarah announced 25 mins was up. It's a sign! I will aim to do a parkrun before xmas.
Love the new socks. Impressed how much effort can go into sock design.
Cons
Had the odd twinge from the ankles but running doesn't seem to affect it much. Maybe it means they're getting stronger (she said optimistically).
Have had days when I wasn't really in the mood. But went out for run and completed it anyway, this is good practice because there are always going to be days when you aren't in the mood.
