Hey 👋 any advice? I am on week 5 run 3. Run for 20 mins, I tried this yesterday but failed after 10 mins. Any advice? I’m going to try again today 👀👍

No 'f' words please.... Just a blip or a practice run... Next time out.. slow down:)

You are ready for the runs, but you have to remember that.. just start really slowly and then slow down more.. relax into the run.. and just go with it.

Also, remember that as the runs get longer, your core strength and stamina exercises need to be upped on your rest days too. :)

Come here & let me wash your mouth out!! No such word on here.....I’d say around 85% of us on here have looked at this run & immediately thought we can’t do it....but that’s what it’s there for.....it’s a psychological challenge as well as physical, stay positive & if necessary, have 5/10 minutes extra warm up time...it took me 3 attempts to do this run, I didn’t even manage 10 minutes first time like you so you’ve beaten me stamina wise already! Start off slow, slower if you need to, find your pace & stick to it....we,re all running along with you...come on, chin up, shoulders back, get some good music in your ears & off you go......let us know how you get on 😉😊

You didn’t fail just practicing for when you next go out and smash it 👍😀

Never mind. Let's call it a practice run. First thing to do is work out why you stopped: injured or exhausted and unable to carry on? I suspect neither. In which case it was gremlins.

The longer runs are a real test of mental strength. And gremlins are what we call all those bits of self-doubt that come into your head whilst you're running. Call them gremlins and treat them as unwanted invaders. They have no business being there. You body is trained, you just need to convince your mind.

The truth is that you stopped just as your body was settling into a nice rhythm. After around 10 mins your heart rate settles, as does you breathing and that well designed machine that is your body had just about warmed into what effort you were expecting of it.

2 things to consider for next time. 1) running can be tough. Sometimes you need to dig deep and push through the doubts. 2) running to time (especially if you clock watch) is tough. You need to distract yourself from the time. If your tiring, slow down a bit. If you waning then just set a goal of the next lamppost. Got there, good. How about the next junction now, and so on.

You have got this!

When you say failed what exactly happened?

Think "practice" rather than "fail". You still ran for 10 mins- which is more than previous runs - that's a great achievement. Have your rest day & try again- go super slow, gentle and relaxed.

I did this run last week and found it hard, but I think the struggle was in my head- the program builds you up to this point, so you are ready. I found it useful to break it up into shorter bites in my mind- "I'll do 5 very slow mins, then another 5 mins - no faster, slower if need be.." etc Good luck, let us know how you get on.

If you did it yesterday don't try today for a start. A practise run is still a run and needs a rest day.

Even though you didn't manage the full time you still ran which will make you stronger and more likely to make it when you go tomorrow.

Lots of reasons you might not have made it yesterday. The two most likely being running too fast and believing you can't do it. Sort those out, go again and you will succeed.

Oooh that’s a naughty word! Sometimes it’s just one of the days. You still did 10 mins so that’s added to your stamina bag. Tomorrow is another day! Keep at it you will get there x

Don't repeat a run the day after a "failure". Always have a rest day.

I just read someone else who did their 20 minutes this week say they weren't able to do it first time round so just redid week 5 and second time round found it no problem.

I got to about 9 minutes of the 20 minutes last week and knew I wasn’t quite ready, so repeated the whole week. Today I felt more ready and tried the 20 mind again, and achieved it! And what’s more I wasn’t dying by the end! Amazing! Try that perhaps, repeat the week, build yourself up! Definitely worked for me! Good luck!
