Week 4 run 1 FAILED: Feeling very frustrated... - Couch to 5K
Week 4 run 1 FAILED
dont give up, call it a practice run, anythings better than nothing, you will get there, if i can anyone can. cheer up a good day will come along shortly
Don’t give up. It’s great that you were out there and running. If you don’t complete a run you just need to try it again next time until you complete it. The plan is designed to build up our fitness and stamina so it works at all different levels for each of us. Please don’t be disheartened. You can do it. Good luck for your next run 🏃🏻♀️😀
No failure here
What have you learned? I'm guessing you were going too fast... You need to find a 'sustainable pace' that will enable you to jog the full times.
Make sure that you are well hydrated and keep thinking positive 'I can' thoughts
Put it down to experience and try it again after a rest day.
Keep at it. Building up mental stamina is important and I find it harder than anything. Try to let the negative thoughts dissolve as soon as they creep into your head and focus on giving it a go and in time you will do it. It's the law of evolution and loads of others have gone before us and made it through the programme with similar obstacles. Be proud of getting to w4 and be kind to yourself... best of luck.
Hi ehipi ,
Please don't stress about this. You may not have completed them (yet) but you got out there and gave it your best shot. You've not failed, just not yet completed the run. It's a process and we all progress at different speeds, so please don't be discouraged. Did you ever think you could run for 3 minutes even, when you started this? I know I didn't.
I am no running expert, but what I would say is if you struggled, have a rest day to let your muscles recover/strengthen, and next time you try, don't go so fast. I learned early on that if I started to feel like I was going to have to stop, just slow down, even if you're doing barely walking pace. Speed does not matter at all, as the idea is to get you running for 30 minutes, and 30 minutes is 30 minutes whether you're a cheetah or a snail! The mantra round here seems to be "slow and steady", and that's very good advice as far as I'm concerned.
Trust the programme, really, it does work, and if you do need to repeat a run, don't beat yourself up. You can do this, I know it!
Take care,
Neil x
No worries! Try again next time and see if you get further. You can repeat a run as many times as you want. The important thing is to not give up.
You've got this.
Please don’t give up! I did the same run yesterday and found it really hard. My calves were so tight and painful I almost gave up, especially during the last five minutes. In the end I just turned up my music really loud which helped to take my mind off my calves a bit and thought ‘just a minute or two left I can do this’ Put this down to a trial run and go again.....good luck!
Start slow.
Then slow it down a bit.
And then go a bit slower.
Folk think they have to be some Olympic sprinter. Replace the word 'run' with 'slow stumbling shuffle'. My pace is the same 3 weeks after graduation than it was when I started.
And that pace is slow. But it is sustainable.
You started this program because you wanted to pass it and achieve it. And you can. And you will.
On your playlist just get about 5 songs that you really REALLY like. The songs that are guaranteed to get you dancing in the kitchen when it comes on the radio. Play those songs during your 'person dying in the desert stumbling forwards looking for water' speed. Sing the songs in your head as they play and focus on them rather than the 5 minutes.
Just slow it down. You'll be fine.
We don't use the 'F' word here ehipi as has been said before, just class that as a practice, and have another go. You will hear it said time and time again; slow and steady. This community name should be Couch to 30mins, as that's the objective, and it means you can go at whatever speed you want, just try to run/jog/shuffle/sloth faster than you walk.
Come on, chin up, you've got this far, you can do this run ... we are here for you, cheering you on ... 😘
