Morning run

So, I arrived back from Limerick around 10pm Friday evening and by the time I'd done everything I needed to do it was soon 2am, another night of little sleep.

Saturday morning I awoke and had to take my youngest daughter to work and then I headed for the treadmill, it was my worst run to date, I'm not going to lie about it, I managed around 20 minutes before I had to stop, I was running on less than empty.

My eldest daughter had asked if we could have the (3) grandkids Saturday night so her and her other half could go out, so we had a sleep over.

I'm great with kids but can't rest properly when there is a sub 1 year old in the house, both Mrs LeeU and myself got little sleep.

Sunday was a tired blur and yesterday I struggled to get up.

Today, I turned the alarm off, I really didn't want to get up again but I'm more scared of the old me returning so I headed for the treadmill, I fired up Laura and started a 5 minute warm up walk, I completed the 30 minute run, no slowing down and with an extra boost towards the end (last 2 minutes).

I was all over the place to start with but quickly got into a rhythm with my breathing, etc, I loved the run though, clearing my head and setting me up for the day, I'm still 800-900m off of 5k but I'm ok with that at the minute, I'm just happy I can run for 30 minutes.

I am working on my speed, I think I'll do W1 on Thursday and run the running parts and jog the walking parts.

To everyone who's graduated or who graduates this week, congratulations.

Happy running to all.

Well done with your perseverance with such a challenging week. You are doing exactly the right thing concentrating on your 30 min rather than the 5km right now, you have quite a lot going on and missing sleep can make us prone to injury if we are not careful you have the balance just right.

To be honest, yes I'm working on my speed/endurance now but I'd be quite happy to plod along for 30 minutes 3 times a week, I enjoy it immensely.

I'll get to 5k, I'm having too much fun running to worry about it too much at the minute.
