Having last week created the retro runners definitive playlist in honour of Razouski, who had hearing difficulties, (but is now fixed thanks to Addenbrookes Hospital) it seemed that my 'definitive' 80s predominated list, was nowhere near definitive at all. Loads of folk then shared their favourites to add to my download list and it's quite a lengthy one, I can tell you.
So I am now starting a new 'definitive list' for the retro runners amongst us, and this is being named Retro Runners - Deck of Ginger Ale Mix, in recognition of Decker , lardofale and GingerBohemian who came up with a whole host of songs for me to consider.
Razouski's original playlist details can be found on jancanrun.com, together with the link to the Spotify version, to make it easy for folk.
My rules for my downloads are:-
I am allowed one download per run completed each week
And I am allowed a further download if I meet the target km for the week.
Downloads made each Sunday
The weekly km is determined by my training system as follows:
Week X = 1 x run 7km, 2 x 6.5km
Week Y = 1 x run 7.5km, 2 X 7km
Week Z = 1 x run 8km, 2 x 7.5km
If I run more than 7.5km on Sunday, then I am allowed 4 downloads this week. I actually ran 8.6km this morning, so am allowed 4 downloads.Yay.
Also I hadn’t quite thought through my rule-set, as I am intending ramping up the distance to 10K. Not sure what my new download incentive rules will be post 10K, but am open to suggestions.
This week’s 4 downloads will be chosen from the shortlist:-
Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule The World – Thanks to Polly2810
Running Down a Dream by Tom Petty – – Thanks to antet
I Ran – Flock of Seagulls – Thanks to Razouski
Talk Talk – Talk Talk – Thanks to Lardofale
Don’t Go – Yazoo – Thanks to Ginger Bohemian
Tainted Love – Soft Cell – Thanks to me!
In democratic style, I tossed a coin to see which I'd download and they are:-
Talk Talk
Tom Petty
Soft Cell
Flock of Seagulls
So for next week, my first two shortlisted downloads are
Yazoo
Tears For Fears
More to be added, randomly from all the great suggestions I got last week.
