Well despite having over a week off and swollen ankle still decided to go for a 15 min run tonight instead of the usual 28 mins. Went ok felt very stiff but took it very slowly. Am determined to finish c25k injury or no injury.
I will finish!!: Well despite having over a week... - Couch to 5K
I will finish!!
Love your determination. But there is no rush to complete C25K. Injuries are frustrating. My first cam at the end of W8. I was unable to even start W9 for another two weeks delaying my graduation. But, although it was frustrating and I could have worked through the pain - I could have damaged myself worse and been out for a whole lot longer.
Hi I’m at the end of week 8 too just one more runto go before week 9 it seems to be taking me ages!! I thought I could run the pain out but it didn’t happen. Thing is I’m addicted to the achievement at the end of each run now.
And it is a really gutting decision to have to make. But, I wanted to carry on running long after the programme, and every-time I ran with pain I increased the likelihood of a worse injury and a longer stretch out of running. I figured a couple of weeks now, was better than a couple of months later.
It’s a long term injury that’s been made worse by the running that’s the bad thing and I’ve had surgery on it before that’s what’s worrying me most that the running is making it worse and I’m told I can’t run. 😓
I too love your determination BUT and it’s a very big BUT....if you have any pain anywhere AT ALL...you must get it checked out & def no running...I know that will be a disappointment but you will end up on the IC & unable to continue...& your graduation will be delayed for much longer....rest up...& don’t carry on until your 100%
I understand your determination to finish and your motivation to surpass any obstacle on your way, but running on an injury is not a good idea. Particularly if it is an old injury that has had surgery, which seems to be your case. Please, please, please, ice it and rest it for a few days, or you may find yourself on the IC for much longer. What would you tell a friend in your position? Be your own best friend, and rest it up, pleeease.
Have you had advice from medical professionals about running with this injury?
Are you wearing shoes fitted after a gait analysis, where the advisor knew about your injury?
As someone currently not running due to minor injury, I suggest giving yourself plenty of recovery time between runs, but if the pain persists you need specialist advice......GP, physio or podiatrist.
Good luck, take care.
Hi all thanks for the replies I have been resting and icing and just been doing a few short walks. Off to see surgeon next week but it is an old injury and I think it may need another cortisone injection. Thanks for the advice guys missing my running but a short term break equals long term gain x
