Not a lot happened this morning during my run, so I shall recount something that happened on Thursday's lunchtime jogette. It was busy in the park as it was sunny, and unusually there was a chap taking advantage of the free tennis court to kick a ball around with his dogs. How lovely ... then the dogs decided that making baby dogs might be a more fun activity. The guy hung his head, knowing he couldn't compete with such diversions. I giggled childishly at the poor man and his dogs.
Anyway. Week 9 run 1 was over this morning, relatively uneventful. I started off extra slowly, really more slowly than I ever had before with the most minuscule of strides. And there was a tech malfunction too, whereby the volume on my music wouldn't drop down while Jo was speaking but would do so instead just after, which was less helpful. I kept an eye on my watch just in case. Pondered about 15-20 minutes in about the lack of footpath on one particular stretch of road; there are front gardens of houses, then walls, then more stretches of grass up to the road, punctuated by driveways, plenty of space seemingly beyond the property boundaries and yet no footpath... you can see where the priorities are. I ran between the yellow line and the grass anyway as oversized cars trundled past, it's not a long bit of road.
Made it to the end with Craig Charles and some drizzle (I forgot my hat, but I was so sweaty I was glad of that).
30 minutes...!

Well done you and I know the no footpath feeling all too well. In Italy footpaths are incidental to living. Except that it's so damn dangerous on the roads, you'd think someone may think from time to time mmmm pavements, what a cracking idea. But they never do, and so each run is like the Wacky Races....
Just 2 runs to that podium, you must be feeling very proud and rightly so. Well done you....
In Sweden obviously wide footpaths are de rigeur, with separate areas for (fit) cyclists and (very fit) runners plus families out on wholesome outings together. I used to think it was just my town but in fact the whole country is creepily well organised!
Have I mentioned? Two more runs to go, two more runs to go, la la la la
"creepily" well organised... I'd be very happy with that! Don't get me wrong, it's not actually normal round here to not have a footpath, but they do vary widely/narrowly. Just round the corner is a road where last week I passed three runners abreast coming the other way on a lovely wide path.
Two more (official) runs to go! This week might include another little jogette as I've got a *lot* I need to do.
Plans for after ... keep up the running, but also ... finish my thesis, keep my job >_<
