W4R1 Completed - that was a step change... (and the knees held up)

I completed W4R1 this evening, having skipped the Wednesday and Saturday sessions last week, to let my knees recover. The rest seemed to help. I certainly found Week 4 to be a step change over the previous week, but managed it OK.. Perhaps it might have been a little easier had I not missed the two previous sessions... ☺ I'm starting to actually believe that this can / will be done 🏃

Week 4 is a step up! Satisfying, though. Well done and really hope the knees continue to hold up. Joints are amazing, but can be tricksy!

Did you get your running shoes checked to try and help with your knee pain? Did you miss out two runs from the program?

This isn't a sensible thing to do...the plan works if you build up each run by completing each session three times with rest days inbetween. Not just jumping to the next week of the plan.

You should have carried on where you left off and done W3 R2 and W3 R3... they don't have to be done in an actual week...

Everybody can do this plan, it does work, but you do need to follow it properly and do all the runs...

Oooh er. Had I realised you might have meant you actually didn't do the other week 3 runs, I'd have held back the congrats! Please take care of yourself! Most people don't even complete "on time", think of the program as a "maximum" (or minimum time maybe). Maybe it's not clear since they frame it in terms of "weeks", but as long as it's in sequence with at least a rest day after each run, and nothing missed out, that's the plan. I've taken ages, plodding along, roughly 9 days per week and a few "practice runs" along the way!

Hello, I'd echo what others say. If life has happened I have repeated a run or taken a couple of rest days. Seems to be working so far without going on the dreaded "IC" (injury couch, a phrase I've learnt since I've been on here). I've learnt through reading others posts that the week isn't an actual 7 day period rather the 3 runs plus rest days if that makes sense.

You are right Nikon- it can be done 😀 I'm also W4. Plodding slow but sure 😁

W4R1 completed but not sure if too slow

So I did my first week 4 run yesterday and managed to keep going for the full two lots of 5 minutes.
