Hello, Everyone :) I've just joined the forum and your posts and replies are helpful and heart warming. Today I completed Run 1 of week 5 - amazed and delighted I did it! I'm 62 and haven't run since primary school! I'm running in my walking boots across hill tracks, moorland & forest near my house. Each time I set off I wonder how I'm going to complete the day's run. Couch25K is a brilliant! It is hard for us newbie runners, but is proving doable and maybe even enjoyable! The advice and encouragement from mentors, graduates and those further on in the programme is so supportive and helpful. Thank you.

Well done.

The walking boots bit makes me cringe somewhat. I would not want to run in mine, knowing they give a very different contact with the ground to running shoes.

Trail shoes can be bought quite cheaply and do not require the need for gait analysis, as all trail shoes are neutral.

Apart from footwear, your running sounds right up my street.......or should I say bridleway?

There are plenty of us in our sixties here, so welcome.

Thanks for the encouragement! Can't get running shoes until I go to the big smoke as I want to try them on and I really do live miles from anywhere!

And probably go up a (whole?) size compared with your normal every day shoes. Actually mine are the same size as my walking boots, so if your walking boots are bigger than your normal shoes the same might work for you. At least it'll be a starting point.
