Winter drawers on

I started running in winter and just wore a fleece over my running top but it did tend to get quite hot as the runs extended. I'm now wondering whether there are recommended layering systems that are worth investing in as inclement weather approaches. I guess that the trouser part is pretty much the same but the top half might need to be varied.

I started off with a fleece too...😐but now I have a Ronhill running jacket which is lightweight, pretty waterproof but breathable fabric. It has breast pocket on the outside for my mp3 player too..so no armband needed.

I got the mens fitting, it is comfy and long enough to cover my bum😊..

I got mine in John Lewis in the sale.

Other running jackets are available😎x

Run faster so you keep warm :)

No, seriously...some of the slightly warmer tops are fine... and I have warmer leggings for very cold days.. I have a lightweight warmer jacket and I have one like Bluebirdrunner too.. A warm hat is essential.. and a Buff... wet drips and snow down the neck..yuksters!!!

Hey, is this a first? Old Floss advocates running faster!

Thanks to you both - a jacket will be sought for. I doubt I'll be bothered with snow here - it's such a rarity that it just means time to play. Lots of fun and plenty of exercise to be had tobogganing on plastic sacks.

A waterproof windbreaker is key, preferably with zippered pockets so you can take gloves and hats on and off. Layer what you have at home underneath, thin and lightweight is the way to go.

Ha ha!

I can run, fairly quickly:) ... if need be.....but ONLY, because I built up to it.. steadily and slowly.. and after my stint on the IC, I have been doing that again!

I love snow... the only time I won't run, like many of us is if it is icy underfoot... black ice on a run, a year or so back nearly upended me :) But, I find a light jacket useful :) If only in those early dark hours of a Winter's morning! And for me..my neck buff is essential.... one of our finest forum friends Ullyrunner put me on to these... and as soon as the Autumn chills set in.. out it will come :)

Am I right that you are in South Wales or have I imagined that? Not too far from me as the crow flies but a long way in weather terms.
