Having let my pulled thigh and groin heal for 5 weeks I'm ready to run again. Should I start with a parkrun and see how far I can get or rejoin the programme at an earlier point and ease my way back into it?

Any run that can be gentle, able to be cut short and which you will enjoy is the best way to ascertain where you are and how much condition you have lost.
Take it steady.
Keep running, keep smiling.

Err.. I would not advise a Park run...take it slow and steady.... and build up gently.
As IannodaTruffe says, choose a route you know and enjoy and do a gentle, testing things out, run... better that than to go too far too soon and end up on the IC again

Agree with the posts above - a gentle run/ walk without the pressure of others around you, is best. Keep it short and gentle - the plan is to gauge how things feel and come back comfortably and happy! Good luck🙂
