My goodness that was a hard one . Struggled hugely And now not a pretty sight red, sweaty, achy. Don't really understand why this was such a difficult run took two days off drank loads, few little lunges and squatting things but blimey think this was the hardest run of the whole programmme. Bit worried about how I'll find the motivation after the the third run I do seem to need the programme to motivate me. But I'm only at 4 Kim's after the 30 min run so I will have to get to five k and that may take some time and sweat!
Wk9 run2 : My goodness that was a hard one... - Couch to 5K
Wk9 run2
Well done. Each run is different. Just the running gods reminding you not to take it for granted. Post-grad can be scary, but keep the regular runs up. Consolidation is key in the first few weeks, as your running legs develop, and look at local running groups, park run or local race events. There is plenty out there to keep you motivated.
You'll be fine. I find it's like that sometimes. I remember the dreaded first 20 min run, did it no problem. Next run, oh my gosh so hard and like you I'd done all the right stuff beforehand.
Might be worth giving yourself a quick checkup from the neckup, just before your next run and make sure your head is in the right place Only one more to go - nothing you've not done before
Well done on doing the gritty run, that's a foot and a toe on the podium..
Bluebirdrunner posted about the 5k and 30 minutes, it was a really useful post and helped me to decide consolidation was the key, before I started thinking grandmaster flash!
Check it out and see what you think...
Hard runs are some of the most satisfying even if they feel horrid at the time. Take a couple of days before you tackle the biggie...
Well done you so close to the bling now
Yep as others have said every run is different and just when you think it's going ok a nasty bugger jumps out and catches you lol BUT you dug in and did it so well done you
After your moment of glory on the podium I think the thing to do is to consolidate your ability and strive to get to that 5k, you may have to run a little longer to get there I know I am
There's no need to worry about post graduate running life! We're all here with our tales of success, failure, worry, pure bloody mindedness and all of that! Jancanrun's advice of checking out Jan-now-run's post is a great call too, both of those ladies have great tales to tell.
My own journey has continued with consolidation 5k runs at around 33 to 35 minutes, getting those km's under your belt will get those running legs and lungs ready for the magic 30 minutes 5k assault, one day!
Good luck for run 3 and go get that shiny graduate badge!
Forget the 5K!
This is about running for thirty minutes... that is all... so, slow down, take it steadily and just relax into the run to the podium!
Just run and enjoy it
