Now logging my runs in strava. Not sure why. Maybe it gives me motivation in the long term as I can see how I've done on my usual routes.... or maybe I'm becoming addicted after just a week. Anyone else...?

I used map my run, but principle was the same. Having read all the excellent advice on here, I used it really to see what distance I was covering, as I knew that would improve as I did more running. I tried not to look at times and the dreaded splits though, as I felt that may make me run too fast too early.
But it was a good motivation for me and I understand your view. We all eventually find our own running recipe, glad you have found your first ingredient so soon!
Happy running

That's great advice - thanks!

I love strava, love checking out all the stats, not just mine but my son who lives 80miles away , others from my parkrun and friends who have strava. I ask people to go on strava so I can follow them. Love the trophys they give you incentive , The pacing and the heart rate help too. Can spend all afternoon after my parkrun just checking out everyones training and race stats.

Yep love strava. By being able to analyse my runs I found that I go out too fast in the first mile and lag in the third - causing me to loose time. My best runs were more even paced. I used strava then to help monitor and make my pace more even - the result being better overall times.
It's not just about going out as fast as possible, but understanding pacing throughout the whole run. When to push and when to relax.

There are quite a few Strava users here who have access to on another's stats, which might be inspirational, if they invited you on board.
I love Strava, I've used it since my first week. I love seeing my progress in numbers so it really spurs me on. I have some family who have no started their C25K journey and sharing the Kudos is great! 👌

I'm a strava girl too, I agree with the distance, times & the trophies 🏆. It gives me an incentive to try & beat my own time when I do the same routes and sections.
