Running 2.4km in 14minutes: Im a newbie..how can... - Couch to 5K
Running 2.4km in 14minutes
I don't understand your question. This Forum is for runners who use podcasts or apps to run for 30 minutes continuously after a 9 week plan. Once you graduate from the 9 week programme you could concentrate on speed over time if you wished and achieve 2.4km in 14 mins if that's your end goal. Why 2.4km in 14 mins? Is it for a medical?
Quite seriously you would help your cause if you phrased your question in standard English with appropriate punctuation.
This forum is for people learning to run using the NHS C25K training plan, which will get you running for thirty minutes, after nine weeks. If you have good fitness levels then you should also be able to run 2.4k in 14 minutes, once you have developed the basics.
No tips I am afraid. Is this a job requirement?
This programme. C25K takes you very steadily from not running to running comfortably and injury free for 30 minutes, and maybe..( for some, but not many folk)... 5K within nine weeks or so
Congratulations on deciding to improve your fitness, no doubt you have been motivated to do this to join the army or navy. A 2 mile run in under 14 minutes (I think 13 and a bit) is a standard test during basic training.
A lot is going to depend upon exactly when you need to make the test, and your general level of fitness / experience now. The pace that you'll need to run is 1 km in 5 minutes 45 seconds, and we can't tell you if that is hard or difficult. For me, I can run 10km in one hour (I'm in my 40s), but we are all different... Mo Farah is faster than me, but my grandmother is not.
So I suggest that you download the C25K app to your phone and get started. After 9 weeks you may be running 5km in 30 minutes, and this will get you pretty close to your target pace. But there is no short cut. No magic bullet. Only your commitment to getting started, following the program to the letter (don't rush it and get injured). Let us know your progress.
