Well done on starting the program. My advice (as with most on here) would be to get a gait analysis done at a local running shops & look at new shoes. See what they say then go online at get some cheaper.

Good luck with the rest of the program & keep posting, it's great support.

That actually sounds a bit like plantar fasciitis- most people complain about heel pain, but it can affect the arches too (I'm pretty certain...). If you google you'll find stretches you can do to help. But I'd also advise going to your doctor

I am not a medic so won't comment on that. Pain is never good so probably worth checking it out. And if you're not doing post run stretches, the above link is really good and it's never too late to start them. Hope you feel better and it's not too painful.

Worth seeking medical advice for a diagnosis at least, having said that using a tin of baked beans place it on the floor and place your naked foot on top of it and procede to roll it backwards and forwards using a degree of downwards pressure.

This should release some of the tension through the tendons/joints of the foot

This may be helpful...other than that... try slower, and try to land lightly... it is a temptation, when we begin, to thump or feet down quite hard.. and the action creates a massive impact..

Also, do makes sure your shoes are okay... they are our greatest asset... besides ourselves of course:)

Well done!

If you have a sports shop you could go and get checked out... there are bargains to be had.. last year's colours...old stock etc.. I don't think I have paid full price for any gear :)
