Couple of questions

Today I completed W5 R2. Had a sneaky peek at W5 R3 - feeling daunted at the thought of a 20min run. Any tips please?

Also, having an 11 day break from running shortly due to holiday. Is it ok to get back into if I maybe rewind a week or 2?

Dreading that I'll just get back into it and the dark nights will be drawing in. How does everyone manage running when it gets dark by 4.30? Reflective the way to go?!

First off - don't be daunted, the plan is designed to bring you up to this point. Seriously you are ready for it. Just make sure your head is, your legs will carry you through but not if your head is in sabotage mode. Channel your inner Oldfloss and start slow, go slow, and then even slower. Speed comes later. Lots of us have different tips for coping with the extended run times, I make up characters and names for folk I see, some count trees, obstacles etc. Try not to get too hung up on the 20 minutes, just find a more immediate target point and then move on from that one.

As to holiday, a lot of folk take their trainers with them and either continue with the plan or they take them to do some running without pressure. Any run no matter how small puts stamina and kms in your running bank. Taking them with you means you may well run. not taking them definitely means you wont!

Generally the advice is that a break shouldn't really interrupt your routine, just pick up where you left off, but really take it slowly, so you don't do damage. And that first 'back home' run will give you a good idea of whether you need to go back a few runs or not.

Can't help on the dark running though, I'm purely a daylight bird, I'd be taking my life in my hands running on country lanes at night.

Have a fab holiday oh and kill Run 3 before your holiday!

Hi Jancanrun. Thank you so much for your encouraging reply. I am determined to keep focussed and nail W5 R3 this week. 20mins run seems very daunting. However, having already got this far, I will give it my best effort.

Good thinking about taking my trainers on holiday. You never know - I might get the urge to have a sprint. I'm really hoping I will quickly get back into running after my holiday. I'm expecting I could have a few pounds to shift after 11 days All Inclusive!!

Thanks again for your kind message

Hey... stop it... nothing to worry about at all!

Look how far you have come.. did you think you would make it to here? Have your holiday... enjoy...why can you not run on holiday???

I did C25K in the dark.... mornings... Winter 2015... reflective gear, head torches... moonlight...neck buffs, bob hats and gloves... oh the memories... You are going to be fine !!!

Just run.... slow and steady, home or away, winter or summer... you will be stronger and you will do it:)

Thanks Oldfloss. No I didn't imagine I could make it this far. I can't quite believe I can now run for 8 mins without getting puffed out. And I enjoy running!!

I'd like to continue the programme on holiday, however I'm going on my own with the teen kids. So I don't fancy leaving them on their own while I go running. I'll take my running gear just incase I feel secure in the hotel and can sneak off for half an hour.

And yes you're right - even running in the winter is possible! X

Mummycav109 - it's quite daunting, isn't it!! I think this is the biggest challenge I face. Going from 2 x 8min runs, to 1 x 20 min run. When are you doing W5 R3? I'm planning to do it either tomorrow or Wednesday night. Maybe we can compare how we feel afterwards!!

I love having my music on while I'm running. Really keeps me motivated to keep going!

Good luck to you too. We can do this!

You have both done all the ground work and now you get to really see how far you have come. Savour the moment, and don't be tempted to clock watch
