New(ish) mum new to running

Hi, I've wanted to start running for a long time, tried several times but always gave up after only a few runs. Had a baby last year and really need to get fit and get some weight off so would really like to complete the C25k and actually become a "runner"!

I just really struggle to find the time for myself, having a 16month old and being a career for my husband who has a chronic illness. And struggle to find the energy and motivation as I feel constantly exhausted!

Any help, support and word of motivation greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You're amazing!! You can absolutely do this. The challenge is scheduling it in and being really strict with yourself. I am the worst person at obeying myself! But I do know that if I run and feel fitter it helps everything else along.

Keep going and really well done!!!

I agree with LizH2 , you are amazing. I've found running to be the best stress reliever yet: it's guaranteed me time and I ALWAYS feel better afterwards, even if I drag myself out of the door feeling dead on my feet. Start slowly and take as long as you need. Oh, and have fun.

This is a great place for virtual support, but you are going to need real world cooperation to find the time to run. Can your husband care for the little one while you run? In all an hour per workout is all you need to free up, including shower time.

This plan is brilliant. It WILL turn you into a runner if you complete it. The benefits are not only physical, but your runs will become " you" time and in your situation will provide a great destresser.

Most of us swear by the positive mental gains to be had, too.

If you can find that time..............no more than three hours per week, then once you start, the motivation will flow, I am sure. The plan gives you rewards of achievement with a wonderful progressive nature. You will soon be hooked.

You are in control. You run and progress at your own pace. We will offer all the advice and support we can in an effort to help you change your life.

This will be a wonderful example to set your child. Please give it a go.

Yes you've already taking the first step by posting on here. As Iannoda says you will need about 3 hours per week to do the runs. Could you go out when your baby has a nap? I know it is difficult with babies/ small children and doubly difficult if you are also a carer. However that makes it even more important that you look after yourself and your well being.

Don't worry if you need to repeat any runs or take extra time, this is for you and you will feel better physically and mentally. Use this forum you will get loads of support. Good luck :)
