When progressing through the program i am wondering how other people gauge the distance run. I have been using runkeeper app in conjunction with the c25k. Any other ideas?

My son has recommended web site called good run guide, just put in your post code and you can plot your route on a satellite map and get a very accurate distance, it brilliant and really easy to use.

I used mapmyrun afterwards, but nothing during my runs as I didn't want to get too focused on distance during what I felt was my training (I know its technically all training).
Now I use strava. But now I run 5k - a route well mapped out beforehand - and check my time at the end of - never during - the run.

While you are working through the programme, the distance is immaterial. You are only aiming to complete the time. Once you've graduated and consolidated your running, that's when you might think about distance and maybe want to go for 5k or beyond.
But let's be honest - we all pretty much wanted to know 'how far?'! Mapmyrun is good as you check it after you get home so there's no danger of you pushing harder than your body is ready for. No point in struggling to 5k but injuring yourself in the process...
