Its just muscle ache. You will probably experience it in different areas for much of the programme, but the first week is by far the worst because it is all a shock to the muscles.

As Rig says... it is the norm Lots of aches and pains...not all the time and not always... but they pass...slowly... you get stronger with each run. Take your rest days and take it slow and steady!
Thanks guys, was feeling a bitty defeated tonight as was no where near as sore after runs 1 and 2! Onwards to attempt week 2!
Take it gently
As old floss says rest and take it sure and steady and you will be fine
And stretch after every run and on the rest days too if you can. That helps reduce the aches. But they are inevitable when you do new exercise.
I've been doing yoga in rest days and find this helps only got aches after 1st run and now on w2r3 and no aches (touch wood!)
This used to happen to me, I'd be so achy the next day! The one thing that honestly worked great is a protein shake (whey powder) after the run. Don't worry it won't make you bulk up or anything like that it just helps repair the muscles. It's unbelievable the difference it makes, even if you don't believe me or don't want to try it just buy a small taster sample and try it once, you'll see the difference!
