Should I stay or should I go now...

So, I feel a bit like those people who hang around University long after they should've left; languidly propping up the student union bar and making smart comments to the freshers.

Today I ran 8K and sort of think I should move to Bridge210K (and am lurking there), but the real world of 'proper' runners looks scary and grown up. Also I like hanging out with the guys here :)

So, is it ok to stay, or do I need to move on and make space for a real couch25ker?

Do what I do I flit between both as I post when I have done a 5k run and when I have done something relevant to 10k

No, come on Helen........nothing for us here........... let' s go............oh, I just remembered, I can't go, I'm on the staff now.

Oh well, maybe something will happen.

in reply to IannodaTruffe

Yes, you are like a Prof. of running :)

Do both, that's the way we like it. You have every right to be on the bridge to 10km forum but we need support for the new runners on here too. So please stay and go 😀😀😀.

in reply to Realfoodieclub

I am going and staying in my usual decisive fashion 😎

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto......

You can post on here and on there too... no-one minds... an the advice and support you get on moving forward is amazing. Loads of really experienced runners who can keep you injury free and happy in your running!

Go on... you can sit by me... :)

Love the idea of 'Going to Big School' - hopefully I will be able to go soon!

You will :)

in reply to Oldfloss

It would be a shock if I went there and found you quick and speedy, that you had been living a lie!

I am slow and steady...built for distance not speed... although... I have had my moments... shshhshsh !

depends on whether you want to contribute and offer advice and support to the noobs, the freshmen and sophomores, keep them safe from hyponatremia, or just garb your grad badge and run.

hadn't actually considered before that that is what we forum veterans look like.

in reply to Rignold

No Vets are like postgrads, lecturers and Profs.

You could be Prof. Squat :)

I do a bit on each forum.

I like to encourage and celebrate with those new to running on this site. I need the advice and encouragement from the experts over yonder. Simples!

Come on over, there are loads of us you will recognise. 😃🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

in reply to Millsie-J

Ok, I'm heading over :)

Hey as oldfloss says there ain't no C25K police watching you. In fact she would never say that as it's atrocious English... Newbies need the encouragement of the graduates and it's great to see what the future holds. And besides which, with weird bike people slapping bottoms newbies need you to point out that running is fab, friendly and fun.

in reply to

With weird slapping people about, we do need to stick together it's true. If somebody slapped my ass, I would not be fab, friendly or fun!

I think both is ok...

This seems to be the consensus....

I love that you raised this question Helen, as I've been feeling a bit like that too! I think though, as the consensus seems to be, we can offer support to those running nippers coming up just behind us then have our turn at being the newbies again on the 'other side'... I still post on here as I'm still at the 30 min/5k stage but am transitioning, & indeed will have to go on up to Big School. See you there 👀

Me too, but big school is just way too scary just yet 😬

in reply to SunnyMummy

See you in the playground. I'll be the kid with the shiny new shoes.

in reply to SunnyMummy

I just said something in big school and nobody has put my head down the toilet (yet)

I do both, although most of my posts are on the Bridge to 10K forum. I don't want to demotivate the newbies with talk about 14Ks and Cooper Tests and other technical stuff. On the other hand when I've done a 14K or a successful Cooper Test I want to shout it out!

On here I try to be motivational - if somewhat sporadically!

in reply to JaySeeSkinny

I just read you on 'the other side' and have made my first Big Girl comment :)

SunnyMummy profile image

Now you see? That tells me I'm not ready for Big School yet. What on earth is a 'copper test'? I've got a mixed vision now of our old science classroom (Big School again) & an episode of House, with a policeman thrown in for good measure! 😂😮

JaySeeSkinny profile image
JaySeeSkinnyGraduate in reply to SunnyMummy

Cooper (not copper). You warm up for 10 mins then run your little legs off for 12 and see how far you get in the 12 mins. Then you look in a table and it tells you if you're crap, average, above average or brilliant (according to age and sex). I posted a link, I think (but it didn't work, OldFloss reposted it correctly in the comments). So no coppers I'm afraid!

Thank you for the replies and good advice. Reckon you are right and I will start dipping my toes in the bridge forum but still drop in here too😎🏃😊

OK you have all convinced me. I will stay, but also post in B10K if, sorry when, I do longer runs worthy of that forum.
