Gutted! Been to parkrun this morning and for the first time ever I walked in places πŸ™ just didn't want to be doing it and so walked because i could. Ive never walked when I should have been running. Now feel it was a waste of my time 😒

Your head was just in the wrong place. It happens sometimes. You didn't waste your time you could have just sat on the sofa. Good days/Bad days happen, don't beat yourself up just do better next time.

We all have bad days, if it was easy, what would be the point? Be determined and try to nail that next run.

I would bet you did the classic 'started too fast'. I have done lots of PR now , even so a while back i ran far too fast for the first 2k, could not sustain it and ended up run/walking the rest. I was so disappointed! The next PR i was mindful of my pace and had no problems running the full course.

I always walk on my runs. nothing wrong with walking at all. It gets you there. A walk as required will always save a run!

I never give up on a run unless I pull something or a body part falls off. I get there because I take walking breaks. Get my breath back and jog on

I don't think its a waste of time. What else would you be doing with that time?

You can't push your body where it doesn't want to go. Running fast is hard and your body has to be conditioned to do it. Running fast 5ks is very hard because the distance is so short, and insufficient time to warm up, find your run rhythm, pick up speed before it's over and done with and you didn't even warm up properly yet! over 10 k etc its easier but you can't rush the process. You just have to keep doing the leg work. Slow runs build running legs.

You'll get there! Oh yes you will. Hang in there!

No it wasn't, I've done that on occasion if not feeling upto par, you can run or walk in places at Parkrun and you've still got a run credit.. maybe you were a tad tired or needed a little fuel in the stomach?

I've done 11 Parkruns so far and have only managed to run the entire course on 4 separate occasions. I had to walk a couple of times last week. Ran it all today and felt comfortable. Good days and bad days but never ever would I count them as a waste of time even if I walked it all.

Excuse me, we'll have none of that talk on here, you got up, you went out, you joined in, you walked/ran 5k, exactly what part of that is a waste if time?

We all have mixed runs, 'poor' runs, good runs etc., its all movement, you're still quicker than anyone in the couch.

You did good, you made the effort, remember that πŸ€—

Never a waste of time! We all felt pains, loss of breath, burning thighs and have seen people over lapping us with ease. Start slow, get in the groove, let the body enjoy the movements and if you feel like going faster, go, but slow down if there's a problem, or stop fully if there's pain, no shame in that :) No shame or waste of time, whatsoever. There will be great runs ahead, don't worry :)

It wasn't a waste of your time, it never is. Oldfloss said very recently that we don't have C25K police watching us, and that we can consign these runs to the learning pile. I am nowhere near your stage, but feel your anger at yourself. Everyone here gave me the hug and impetus to go and nail the run I'd recently messed up, and I am sure next time out you'll be extra better. I really think that's rubbish English, but you get my drift. Good luck next time out, but you know you don't need luck, you'll do it anyway.

You are not alone 😏I did exactly the same this morning at the park run . I couldn't run beyond 5 minutes yet completed week 5 r3 last week. Think I'll need to put it down to a tricky start ... onwards and upwards! Good luck with your next run πŸ€—

We've all been there and understand how you feel. Back in May I was having to walk 2-3 times during Parkrun but this last month I've had 4 weeks good running with plenty of PB's! Don't be too down and carry on getting out there.
