How long is the first weeks runs ?

My son recommended a site to me and it's brilliant. It's called "good run guide" you just put in your post code and you can than plot a route on a satellite map giving you very accurate distances.
Differs for everyone but mile and a half should be ample

Hi and welcome... the programme is all about the timed runs and walks.. download the programme and follow it.

Week one
Begin with a brisk five-minute walk, then alternate 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking, for a total of 20 minutes.
Running around the park for the first few runs could be really great There is so much to take on board when we start, that a familiar and a pleasant route, can be beneficial
I understand that. And know how to map. Ill go for the mile and a galf and see how that goes. I know it depends on each person but a rough distance is great

At the start I carried on going until the half way bell then turned around

I dont think my first runs were as far as a mile and a half. I would start round the park, how many times you go round will depend on the size of your park! I found after a couple of runs, I had decided on a route I liked (I admit avoiding hills) and I like the familiarity and when Laura says x mins to go, I think that will probably be about x spot and then I aim towards it, usually the minutes are up before the distance

It very much depends on the individual, I think. I've just checked back on Endomondo from when I first started out and I ran 4.13km on my first run - it was actually further and faster than many of my subsequent runs because I hadn't found my lovely, comfortable 'slow and steady' pace yet, got too excited and went off like a bat out of hell. I too ran until the halfway bell and then turned back. I've always tended to speed up in the second half of a run though so soon found myself running a little bit past the bell to allow for a slightly longer return distance. Good luck, whatever you decide!
