Not on a half hour run, no.

But do make sure you get your 3 to 4 litres through the day

in reply toRignold

I'm sure the amount increases every time you post about this issue... I await "you need to drink a swimming pool the day before your race" :)

ah, there you are. I wondered how long it would be.

Sorry for the delay, I was busy baiting a bear

a black bear drinks about 4 gallons of water a day

a mouse, by comparison, only around a teaspoon.

Be a bear, not a mouse.

If you are well hydrated before your run, there is no need to take water with you on any C25K run.

I can't run without water as I get very dry and it puts me off.

Maybe you don't drink enough, many people do not. The NHS recommend a minimum of 1.2 litres per day. If you are exercising you need considerably more (I drink 2-3litres per day) and that needs to be evenly taken on board throughout the day.

I breathe through my mouth when I run, probably bad form but its the only way I get enough air in. But it does dry me out something horrible. A few sips here and there makes a run much more pleasant and easier.

Again, I would repeat, do you drink enough generally. Don't worry about breathing through your mouth........that is how runners breathe.

No probably not! My mother's told me I don't drink enough for the last 20 years 😄 But I never seem to be dehydrated.

Good news about the mouth breathing thanks. I thought there might be some mystical nose breathing technique I was missing out on!

Good hydration, as opposed to not being dehydrated, is crucial to any exercise and by increasing your fluid intake you may well improve your performance and recovery.

I can't be doing with carrying it for 35 minutes - I have a drink before I leave (not too much as the options for dashing behind a bush are limited around here) and another when I get back.

Hydrate every day and not really for a short run.. :)

I do drink plenty of water during the day & thought it wasn't really necessary when I'm only on week 4...just wondered if it'd help...prob not though!!! Didn't manage my run this morning so I'm off out now...I'll let you know how I do....thank you all for the tips 😍

I do, but that's because it's scorchio here, otherwise definitely not. I have my drink of water before I go.

I normally like to run in the morning- I have a drink before I leave the house then down a bigger glass once I'm back. After my shower I have my breakfast enjoy a good coffee and a banana. Sets me up nicely for the day!!!

I take a small 'D' shaped bottle with me - it holds about 330ml. It's like my comfort blanket really and I hardly notice it. I generally finish all the water by the end of 5 or 6k (earlier if the weather is hot). Sometimes I just swish and spit if my mouth is just dry 🙄

I drink about 1-2 litres per day anyway and about 300ml just before a run but no more than that otherwise I feel I need the loo whilst running.

Before I answer I will state I do drink plenty (although not a full Olympic swimming pool :p).

I always take water with me and feel lost without it but this is because:

(a) I too breathe through my mouth and it gets dry from the wind despite good hydration.

(b) I have water with me throughout the day anyway (except while swimming), so feel naked without some!

(c) I pour most of it over me as I get really hot.

Take some and see if you feel better or if you find it make no difference - everyone is different :)

I don't take any water with me though sometimes a wee sip to wet the mouth would be great. I always take a protein shake when I finish in a attempt to help the muscles recover. Have a cousin who is a professional exercise instructor who recommended it.
