Today was Pianism 's prescribed day for a tourist run at Sale. Glad it was because I've only done 1.5km this week and needed the motivation to do a run. Got there to find a message from RunaroundSue saying it was cancelled followed by another saying it was uncancelled! Decided I was glad to be there anyway. Spent before the run queueing for the loo, and post run searching for Pianism in his new apricot tee shirt, and eating ice-cream (I reckoned I deserved it). I finally found Sue and Geoff by accident (they looked vaguely familiar even though we've never met, I think we exchanged a greeting the first time I ran Marple), who introduced me to Sharuns , UnfitNoMore and Miss UNM. It was nice to meet VRBs.
The course was busy due to a nearby Parkrun being cancelled. I realised I didn't see much of the surroundings as I was too busy watching my footing. I started off slower than I would have due to being surrounded by lots of people. As we spread out I found some space to run, sometime speeding up to get in to an empty spot, sometimes slowing down so someone could pass. I wasn't expecting a great time. Runkeeper was less than accurate I thought due to a lack of signal. It said the first km was super fast. Well maybe it was right because I got a PB of sub 33 mins. In fact closer to 32 mins than 33! Wow, that one top of a lovely meet up with VRBs. Very happy. Went home to do DIY and have managed to badly gauge one of my fingers when a drill bit snapped. OK so I've got plenty more, but am rather attached to that one (or most of it) ๐ฌ๐ฎ Oops!

I am not sure, but now I remember when I first saw BaddieThePirate
She reckons I spoke to her when she arrived at Marple the first time, which is highly likely because I will chat to anyone and everyone! (I have also done a few Welcome briefings, so have seen a lot of new faces). I can't claim to remember that especially because it was the day of Brian's 500th parkrun and there was a lot going on and a lot of visitors to see him.
However, I do remember her from another occasion. Geoff saw her and commented that she must be the sister of a regular runner because they looked alike. But at some point, I was running behind her in the woodland stretch and heard her name. As this was almost the same as the aforementioned runner, I thought it highly unlikely that they were sisters after all.
Anyway when I was doing a bit of sleuthing on Saturday's results it all came back to me.
I'd love to meet my dopple ganger (sp?) If she's from Leeds that would make sense because I've been told on a couple of occasions I have a double in Leeds!
It was lovely to meet you today. Congratulations on the PB, particularly as it was so busy. That up and down of pace as we weave amongst runners certainly takes the focus off distance though.
Little Miss UMN has told half of Bramhall about her day after we returned there from my afternoon... weโve literally just got home!
Hereโs to the next one. Hope that finger heals well.
But I'm a happy ๐๐๐. Maybe I could become a zoomy snail if I actually went and did those hill reps. Have been super slack on the running front recently but have done lots of maintenance on the pirate ship โ ๏ธโ ๏ธโ ๏ธ
TBH I think their time keeping may not have been accurate because while it was pretty flat it felt slow. Or maybe I just got carried along by the crowd. I did race the finish, but couldn't keep it up coz the end wasn't where I thought it was!
I canโt believe I missed you all! My husband did Sale PR on Saturday as we needed to head into Manchester afterwards and thought It made sense to go for a bit of tourism.
we take it in turns so I was cheerleader but I didnโt feel there was anywhere to stand and cheer sadly!
I was the woman with the two year old on the pink scooter causing trouble โบ๏ธ
Husband wasnโt keen on the course sadly so I doubt weโll return to Sale but was nice to see another Parkrun as weโve never tried any tourism before
Oh what a shame we missed you ๐ I didn't see any toddlers causing havoc. Follow Pianism and check his list for tourist Parkruns we are hoping to do in this area. We'll see you at another one!
