Just completed W4 R1 today. Had niggles in both knees for a week but today had really strong shooting pains under my kneecap on one knee. It seemed to come and go and dis appear after 20 mins. I am home now and the shooting pain is still there if I try and life my leg. Anyone have any idea what it is? I'm so worried as I have fallen in love with running and couldn't bear to have to give it up! I'm in my mid 50s not over weight and have never run before I started the C25k 3 weeks ago.

Hmmm..that might be runners knee. If so you just need to rest for a while and then maybe re-do a week or two the program. There are lots of stretches you can do for runners knee too. If that doesn't clear it up get some professional advice though!!

Never try and run through pain, the programme can wait, my wife had knee pain at about that stage of c25k, took some days for it to fade away with rest and she went on to graduate. The stretches mentioned are all good and need doing, also make sure your shoes have good cushioning and that you only run slow n steady, that's key to injury free progress through the programme...😊
