Welcome and good luck for your first outing tonight. take each section slow and steady. Don't worry about the mechanics of how to run, just run. Try to relax as this will help your breathing - keep your shoulders down and don't clench your fists. Then let us know how you get on.

Hi my husband (he's a big bloke) and I started 3 weeks ago and like you we'd never done any running since school. We've just completed W3R1 this morning. My husband has lost 3.7kg in first 2 weeks following this programme and cutting out alcohol, bread and eating healthier. It's definitely working on making us both fit and healthier so all I can say is Good Luck, keep going and You Can Do It. Our biggest fear was looking daft but now we aren't bothered we are just proud that we keep running three times a week! Mondays are the toughest days for us but the rest of the weekly runs do feel easier. Good luck

Hey well done on getting this far and starting, the programme is dead easy to follow and is really encouraging. SC1472 is right don't worry about the technicalities, taking those first steps are one of the best things you can do.

Welcome and good luck for this evening. You Can Do It - just remember it's all about your own pace, there is no right or wrong pace. It's just the pace that's right for you!

Let us know how you get on :)

I was in the same position a week ago. And this morning I completed W2R1. I never thought I could run, but I can and have and I'm actually enjoying it (I never thought I'd say that). Take it slow and at your own pace. Good luck with your first run!!

Yes it's a good idea to have a a good read as there are some gems of wisdom there

You'll be fine. Just go slowly and you'll be ok. It's fun!

The beauty of this programme is that no speed is required at all. You only need to complete the sessions. Job done

Just take it slow. Put on some tunes and try to take your mind else where. Good luck

Good for you pal! It seems daunting at first but is very rewarding. Don't go to fast, take it easy and just breath in and out! The folks on here have all gone through the same fears and worries, I know I have. Good luck, you'll be blown away by what you can achieve!

Just take it one run at a time. You are aiming to build your stamina through regular running. When it says run, it really means JOG. So nice and slow. Don't look at individual runs and scare yourself, and remember you can do more than you think you can, so don't worry. A bit of sweat and hard work and you'll be on here advising others in a matter of weeks. You've got this!!

Not what you're looking for?
