First few steps...

Hi all, started C25K this morning. Used to run regularly 5 years ago before injuring my hip when training for a 10k. I have gained a fair bit of weight and a diagnosis of hypermobility syndrome since then, so I know that I'm going to have to be careful to maintain good posture when running to avoid further injury. It did feel so good to be running again this morning though. I tend to be prone to anxiety so I'm hoping that it will help with that, as well as enabling me to get physically healthier.

Well done for coming despite your diagnosis. It's a great place to be. Enjoy and keep running

Thank you for the encouragement. I have been given conflicting advice by professionals about whether I should be running or not but I'm opting for the positive approach that due to my hypermobility I should be doing more to build my physical fitness, not less. I am aiming to supplement the running with a bit of swimming and pilates to improve my core strength, so as long as I take it slow and steady I think I should be fine.

Sometimes we need to challenge ourselves. As long as your doctor is happy go for it. Keep writing

Well done on taking those first steps back, and will no doubt bring you massive benefits too....

MrDecrepit comprehensively answered a question about Hypermobility yesterday- I know nothing but it seemed like good advice
