Making the most of what's available!

Hi, I am unfit and overweight and have decided to do something about it now I'm approaching 60! I have just completed R2 of Week 1. I have actually completed both days in the house as everywhere (within walking distance) comprises of steep hills. I don't have access to a car that often but next week intend to get up early and drive to somewhere flat and do it properly!

That sounds good :-) I have no doubt that you'll be running up those hills a la Kate Bush with no problem soon! Keep posting, looking forward to reading your progress :-)

Thanks. I'd be happy to walk up them without getting out of breath!

I have been avoiding hills which cuts down my possible routes considerably. Telling myself I will tackle them when I have finished the programme. Have 2 friends who do very hilly Park runs so I will need to do some before I go stay with either of them or I won't make it round. For now I am concentrating on my local flatter Park run.

Enjoy the running but unless you have a very big house you are going to need an outdoor route before you get much further. 25 minutes running round and round the living room will get awful dull!

Ha, I run through the hall and the kitchen but yes I know what you mean. I do get a bit dizzy with all the turns! Also having problems downloading podcasts to 'phone at the moment but will hopefully have that sorted soon.

I smiled when I read this...:)

I remember one of our wonderful running family on here, McFitty running around her patio and garden!!! She graduated with flying colours and is one of the most inspiring people on here... so, running around the house... you are in good company, but you will have to find a bit more room as the runs get longer:)

Well done you anyway.... and believe it or not... you will learn to embrace those hills...honestly :)

Thank you for the encouragement. Off to get a cheap MP3 player tomorrow as given up with my phone. I think I may have found a route (outdoors) that is less hilly than most . I'll keep you posted :)
