Lemondoodle and the mysterious case of the missing week 9...

I was all poised to graduate this week, having completed week 8 last week, after a few weeks plateauing, and raring to go. And then my gall bladder, in a last ditch attempt at protest before removal in 10 days time, flared horribly and I'm been in pain all week and lost many nights sleep. I feel wrecked.

I think I'm going to have to wait until after my operation now to build myself back up to again.

But I will do it. At least it will be an easily defined goal to aim for.

Oh lemondoodle what a shame. I'm sure the running you have done will have put you in good shape for the op. Good luck and keep posting to let us know how you are doing

Thanks hggirl - when I knew the op was going ahead, just a week after I started waaaay back in Oct, it was a real motivating factor to get as fit as possible for it, so I do feel I have done well. And I hope it will help a speedier recovery. Should be keyhole surgery so Dr says a gentle restart after two weeks is very possible.

Oh bad luck. Still hopefully you will recover quickly and get back on the programme. You know you can do it now! Good luck with the op.

Good luck to you for your op. Don't beat yourself up to get out there again - Take time to get strong and healed up again. Pain is so debilitating but it will soon be over for you now!

All the best to you!

Thanks Beek, fear not, I have a tendency to uber sensibleness and won't do anything too soon and will listen to my body.

Thanks Ullyrunner. After 18 months of this, I really can't wait to have the op...counting the days.

Like you say, I know can run now, so feel I have got far enough with the programme to feel confident I will come back to it, especially after my experience after xmas when I really struggled but got through that phase.

Sorry to hear that your graduation will be delayed, however you must be in much better physical shape for the op and that will help with your recovery. Priority now is to take care of yourself until you are able to re-start. We will all be thinking about you and willing you to make a speedy recovery.

Thanks lizziebeth, it feels good to have taken the decision not to push myself this final week, that my body can't cope. but I know I have done myself good getting this far.

This is not good :( save that week 9 for when you will truly enjoy it and get through it all healthy and without worry. Sounds like you need to rest up and take it easy for your op. Good luck and look forward to seeing that week 9 post when you feel better :)

Thanks nextjenn, after another dreadful night I can definitely agree with "this is not good". My time for week 9 will come! It will be fab to have this gall bladder issue sorted and no longer interfering with runs as it has done.

Thanks FTT, yup will definitely stay on the forum.

I think I have really benefitted from going through a 'can I do this phase' after xmas, because having got through that, I know I can come back from this op. And it doubts creep in, I know you lot will get me back out there.

Hey doodle woodle. Don't worry, just get better. The work you've done should help improve the recovery time from your op; so there's always a positive xxx

Yo, piglet, yes, I really think I have done myself a big favour getting fitter in time for the op, I am sure it will aid my recovery and give me are more confidence in my body than I would have had. And I have my foreunner 10 hanging next to my bed pulling at my heart strings and refusing to gather dust for too long :D

Take it easy, Lemondoodle. I know what that pain is like! had mine out keyhole about 18 months ago, which was before I started this programme, so I wasn't anywhere near as fit but still recovered quickly from the op. You'll have a headstart with all that running. I'm sure you'll be back to normal in no time. All the best, and look after yourself.

Thanks cheery - the pain is grim isn't it, I feel utterly worn out now and counting the days. I hear lots of positives about the keyhole surgery though and really heartened by Dr's suggesting a potential quicker return to exercise than I imagined.

Good luck for your op lemondoodle - it must be soon now? I'm sure you'll feel so much better once you get rid of that nasty gallbladder!!! Get plenty of rest post-op and ease yourself back into activity - don't overdo it. Take care x

:) Thanks Cheery - it's Monday morning. Can't wait. Looking forward to slowly getting back into the running and not having the GB pain interfering with progress. I'll be very careful though and rest plenty and not do anything too soon.

Good luck for your op. The 5k will still be here and you must be sooo much fitter than before you started that am sure you will have a much speedier recovery.
