The 2:30am literal cat fight in my back garden meant that the 5:15am alarm wasn't greeted with the same enthusiasm as hitherto. Once the legs emerged from the pit though it was all systems go. Today was the start of week 3 for me. The first two weeks were a steep learning curve as I've never been a runner, my cricket stats prove that and I'm meant to be a batsman!, but such is the structure of this programme I found it a surprisingly comfortable experience. I was unsure what to expect when the first 3 minute run loomed but the pacing and breathing advice given by you folks boomed through my head (at a slightly louder volume than the metal on my phone) and I achieved it without any real concerns. I did feel at bit tired towards the end of the last run but again I suspect it was that pesky Michael Johnson telling me that I probably would be! Overall after this first session of week 3 I am beginning to feel more confident in my running and stronger physically. Maybe I can use these new abilities to chase those cats!!
My next session is Wednesday and, given the forecast for North East Suffolk, likely to be my first non bright and sunny early run.

I'm going to get Michael Johnson withdrawal symptoms when I graduate (hopefully next week)!!!!! Interested as to whether you eat before you run. I've thought about early morning runs before but don't want to get up even earlier to have something to eat and then allow that to go down a bit before I run.
Hi Rebecca, he's a cool dude isn't he?! Glad I chose him, gets me focused and relaxed as soon as he speaks!
I'm out of the house within 10 minutes of the alarm going off. It was initially a shock tactic to get me into it before I could back out but now it's second nature. Before I started this programme I was up at 6 for work (an hours drive from home) with my usual breakfast time at 6:30 which works well with the routine I've got into for my 3 runs. Hope that makes sense/helps!
