I just finished week 6, so I ran 25 mins straight yesterday for the first time in my life ( I'm 47). There is absolutely no way I would have done it without this forum. It's way more important than the podcasts/apps! The people are real, their struggles are real and their successes are real. They share and they care. Welcome back๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿข

I am similar to you, pc59, graduated but then stopped running for 2 years. starting over again was disappointing and I kept putting it off. But I'm just about to head out the door for r2w8. I had to start at w1 so you are doing great. Love the new app - first time round was Laura's podcasts and that music!!

I think if i did it without Laura id give up running too soon but i push myself to keep going when Laura says half way there๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ then 1min just a joy๐Ÿ˜‚ Glad im not alone when returning to couch to 5k! You can keep me going now๐Ÿ‘Happy running ๐Ÿƒ

Yes I'm good thanks. I got to 5k in the autumn, have done a few Parkruns, am now aiming to get to 10k as I have been entered (not my choice) for one in August. Before that I'll be doing Race for Life 5k in July. Keep going, the good weather is great for running - when it's not too hot! Just having to pick my times carefully. I went out on Thursday afternoon without water and really regretted that! Running sure helps with work stress as I can testify ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi Pc59,

Welcome back to the c25k family. Writing up your runs can really help with motivation. So many of us mentally draft our run report whilst out running..๐Ÿ˜Š

You will have some good tips for the Newbies too as well as being able to offer encouragement as you have been there too...

Good luck with your comeback runs..steady as she goes.๐Ÿ˜Šx

Well done for coming back and giving a big thumbs up to the forum. I have found this lovely community incredibly motivating, reassuring and helpful. A real antidote to darker aspects of the internet, too. Keep checking in!

Welcome back. I was in a similar position in Feb; I decided to redo the programme starting at week 4 and following from there. I found the structure really helped and the sense of achievement when you finish each run a great motivation.

Since graduating again I have signed up for the Easter and May Quests, I never thought these were for me. You set your own goals and it gives you a reason to check in and provide an update at once a week.

Happy running ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป

Now thats a great idea i think i had too high expectations when i reached 5 k & thought id easy make 10 k run in May from jan17 & hurt my knee and never got back to it so different challenges ๐Ÿ˜ŠFirst is getting back to 5k or i should say complete 9 weeks first๐Ÿ˜‚As 5 k was after that last time! Happy running ๐Ÿ˜Š

So good to read your post, as I have had to rest for week to see if that helps settle my dodgy hip. Walked for a mile this morning with a gentle 90 sec jog- the hip thing is worse and I'm so frustrated, as I am in the right mind set now to "go for it" and stamina seems much better already.

It is so reasuring for me to read about the experiences of all you wonderful people who have persevered even with long injury rest, and altimately kept with the programme.

Without this forum I probably would have given up after 5 sessions, but now I am longing to get through this blip and get back into training!!

My hip plays up too! I have been trying exercises for the glutes like bridge etc have you good running shoes as i treated myself to a gait test & new trainers& it made a big difference๐Ÿ˜Š I think it just takes our bodies a wee bit of time to adjust๐Ÿ˜ŠIve never ran before so a shock to my knee & hip!! Take it gently its not a race and you will get there! ๐Ÿ˜Š

It's a massive lifestyle change for a lot of us I think when we embark on c25k and on that basis the 9-odds week programme may get us running for 30 minutes but it's really not long enough to completely change our mindset etc.

I've found since graduating April '16 that it's a 'work in progress'!

I find school holidays such a difficult time to keep on track as routine is out the window etc.

What has been likely the best external motivator- for me- is entering events and many people find Parkrun is enough to keep them going.

I'm not a Parkrunner (done one!) but I have done a few 'real' races and some virtual ones too, it's just enough to keep me in touch with it all!

I have been planning a parkrun & need to try a few races maybe just 3k & 5k first think its true hard after the 9 weeks as i liked the structure of the program & just got a bit lost after that! Keeping in touch important though๐Ÿ˜ŠGreat support here๐Ÿ˜Š
