So, as some of you know, I thought I was going to have an enforced break from running after a very minor op and some stitches. BUT, I got my GPs at work to check the wound at the end of last week and they gave me the go ahead to run. Today I finished week 7! Hottest day of the year and I managed it. It was on the treadmill but even in an air conditioned gym, it was still hugely challenging. But, I did it, 25 minutes! Anyone who is trying to run in this heat should definitely cut themselves some slack. It was my fourth 25 minute run and the first three have been challenging but I always believed I would do it - and I did. But today, with nothing being any different to the previous three 25 minute runs other than the heat, it was enormously difficult. So, if you're struggling go a bit easy on yourself - especially if you're still early in the programme - the heat is hugely energy sapping and you don't want to overdo it - and risk passing it or worse.

Well done on completing the run. Especially, like you said, in this weather

I "cut myself some slack" by waiting till 9pm to do the run (W5R2), when the temperature was a "mere" 28C ! It actually felt cool after the roasting hot afternoon when I cycled back from work. On the bike, the heat makes you go faster, I think because the hot air is less dense. Worked up a darn good sweat on the bike ride and the run!
